ROSS SADDLER

Ross Saddler, 84, 2412 Avenue J, died at 6:10 a.m. today, April 5, at Sacred Heart hospital. He had been in failing health the past six months, seriously ill three weeks.

He was born at Bonaparte, Iowa, Oct. 8, 1889. His parents were Charles and Sarah Stackbarger Saddler.

He was a retired Santa Fe railroad clerk and a veteran of World War I.

On May 4, 1920 he married Catherine Temborius. She preceded him in death on June 30, 1951. In 1958 he married Gertrude Snyder. She died March 7, 1970.

Mr. Saddler was a member of Sacred Heart Chatolic church, the American Legion Post, Fort Madison Moose Lodge and the Senior Citizens club.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Gladys Salata, Franklin, Iowa, Sister Ruth Saddler SSND, St. Mary's Convent, Fort Madison, Mrs. Paul (Beatrice) Hottenstein, Humbolt, Kan., Mildred and Rosemary Saddler, both at home; a step-daughter, Mrs. Bill (Mildred) Sallen, Fort Madison; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart church. The Rev. Joseph P. Hines will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

The body is at the Barr Memorial Chapel where the family will meet friends from 7 to 8:30 Sunday evening. A Christian Wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel.

A cancer memorial has been established for Mr. Saddler. Contributions may be left at Barr chapel.
