JAMES EDWARD BENNETT

James Edward Bennett, 76, died Saturday, Nov. 24 at the hospital in Kirksville, Mo., where he had been a patient for 10 days.

He was born Oct. 10, 1886 northeast of Bonaparte, the son of Geo. Wesley and Sarah Miller Bennett. Most of his life was spent in farming in Van Buren county with the exceptions of the last three years he had lived in Milton.

On June 20, 1907, he was married to Amelia Emma Mack who preceded him in death on July 24, 1958. On April 6, 1960 he was married to Mae Kerr who survives.

Other survivors are four children, two daughters, Emma Harkness of Tunas, Mo., and Dorothy McElroy of Clarinda, Ia.; two sons, Elmer Bennett of Holcomb, Kan., and Dale Bennett of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Minor Bennett of Scott City, Kan.; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. in the Cantril Christian church with Elder Herbert C. Shaw officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove cemetery at Cantril.
