Ray Martin

Ray Martin, 83, Birmingham, retired Van Buren County farmer, died Tuesday, May 4 at 5 p.m. at the Kirk Nursing Home in Agency. He had been in failing health for several years.

Services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with the Rev. Wilson Hyde officiating. Burial was in the Kilbourne Cemetery.

Martin was born Jan. 30, 1888 near Libertyville, the son of William and Mary Jane Bryan Martin. He moved to the Birmingham area and farmed for his entire life in that community.

Martin was married to Sena Maxwell March 22, 1913. She preceded her in death May 1, 1967.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Don Traxler, Fairfield, and two grandchildren, all of Fairfield.

Martin was the last member of a family of eight children. He was preceded in death by two infant children, three brothers and four sisters.
