Benjamin C. Cole

Benjamin Clyde Cole, 35, of Dallas City, Ill., former Keosauqua resident, died in University Hospitals, Iowa City, March 24. He was born Aug, 3, 1935, in Clark County, Missouri, the son of Clyde and Willa Cook Cole.

He was united in marriage to Sandra Heitmeier on Dec. 23, 1970, at Dallas City, Illinois.

Survivors include his wife and two sons, Kevin, at home, Kent at New London, Iowa; and daughter, Kristi, at New London; two step-daughters, Valenda and Rita at home, and one step-son, Rusty, of New London; his mother, Mrs. Willa Cole of Keosauqua; six brothers, Fred Cole, Johnny Cole, and Sandy Cole of Ft. Madison, James Cole of Keosauqua, Dale Cole of Mt. Sterling, Cecil Cole of Montrose; four sisters, Mrs. Roy (Vera) Krouse of Farmington, Mrs. Harold (Joan) LUnsbord of Downing, Mo., Mrs. Georgia Hoffman of Ft. Madison, Mrs. Robert (Minnie) Thomas of Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

Other survivors include nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, and a sister, Lucy Cole.

He spent most of his life in Van Buren and Lee counties and graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1953. From 1953 until 1957 he served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Baptist Church of Hawaii, Fraternal Order of the Eagles 1287 of Ft. Madison, Iowa and the V.F.W. 1805 of Ft. Madison. He was employed as club manager of V.F.W. of Ft. Madison.

Services were held March 26, 1971 at the United Methodist Church of Keosauqua with the Rev. James M. Ford officiating. Burial was in Pittsburg Cemetery. Catcott Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
