Hollis G. Beggs, 65, of Cantril died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Davis County Hospital at Bloomfield. He had farmed near Cantril for 40 years.

The son of John J. and Henrietta Wilson Beggs, he was born January 17, 1906 near Pittsburg. On February 21, 1931 he married Creola Hervey at Keosauqua. She survives.

Other survivors are six sons, Donald of Thomson, Ga., Bernard of Mt. Sterling, Lee of Morning Sun, Ned of Cantril, Lowell and Jerry at home; one daughter, Mrs. Darlene Bishop of Purdin, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Hazen Beggs of Ottumwa; several half-brothers.

Catcott Funeral Home in Keosauqua was in charge of arrangements. The funeral was held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the United Methodist Church at Cantril, with the Rev. Herbert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery at Cantril.
