THE RECORD-REPUBLICAN, BONAPARTE, IOWA
THURSDAY, JANUARY 28, 1971

Otto J. Keck

Otto Judson Keck, son of Judson and Jennie Teal Keck, was born Oct. 3, 1887, near Utica and departed this life Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1971, at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 83.

A retired farmer, he lived his entire life in Van Buren County. On March 24, 1912, he was married to Retta Smith. They lived on a farm near Douds for nearly 40 years. She passed away in 1951.

On Oct. 10, 1952, he married Mrs. Helen King. They lived in Keosauqua until moving to their present farm home in the Oak Grove community in 1967.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his widow; six step-children, Mrs. Joyce Anderson of Keosauqua, Mrs. Ipal Anderson of Redding, Calif., Mrs. Dulcy Moore of Stockport, Mrs. Doris Ramsey and David King, both of Birmingham, and Mrs. Nannette Holcomb of Oskaloosa. Also surviving are 20 step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Warren of Keosauqua; two sisters, Mrs. Iva Barker of Keosauqua and Mrs. Ruth Deikman of Glen Ellen, Calif., other relatives and many friends. A brother, Karl, preceded him in death.

Otto will be remembered as a good citizen, a faithful husband and a true friend. He was especially fond of his grandchildren and all children and his example to them will live on as a fitting memorial to his life.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Chester C. Werft of the Stockport Christian Church officiating. Mrs. Garold Hughes was the organist. Pall bearers were Jean Anderson. Raymond Moore, Vernie Ramsey, Harry Holcomb, John W. Boyer and Dr. Richard Boyer. Interment was in Mount Moriah Cemetery.”
