Elsie D. McQuoid

Elsie D. McQuoid, daughter of Curtis and Cora Jamison Miller, was born July 2, 1898, near Keosauqua, and departed this life Thursday, October 8, 1970, at her farm home near Lebanon at the age of 72.

Her early life was spent in the Keosauqua community. As a young woman she taught school in the Tama area.

On October 1, 1922, she was married J. Montie McQuoid at Keosauqua. Most of their married life was spent in the Lebanon community.

Remaining to mourn her passing are her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Betty Dietzman of Farmington, Mrs. Merilynn Gillman of Des Moines and Mrs. Beverly Williams of Milton and two sons Marvin and David, both of Milton, 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are a sister, Mildred Miller of Keosauqua, a half-sister, Mrs. Lucinda Perkins and a half-brother, Max Miller, both of Keosauqua. A half-brother, Foss Miller preceded her in death.

Mrs. McQuoid was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church and a life member of its Women's Society of Christian Service. She was serving as president of the Women's Society at the time of her death. She will be remembered as a faithful wife, mother and grandmother, a loyal church member and a good neighbor. Her willingness to help with whatever needed to be done in the church and community was her way of expressing her faith in God and her love for her fellow creatures, both at home and throughout the world.

Funeral services were held Sunday, October 11, 1970, at 2:30 P.M. at the Lebanon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Willis Grant, pastor officiating. Mrs. Beryl Beeler was the pianist. Pall bearers were Stanley Wilson, Paul E. Johnson, Herbert D. Megrath, Iven Chaplin, Norman Beeler and Dwight Bingaman. Interment was in the Lebanon Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home.
