Elmer Johnson

Elmer G. Johnson, 77, Hillsboro, died at noon Friday, Oct. 9, at the Van Buren county hospital in Keosauqua.

Mr. Johnson was the Hillsboro barber for the past 60 years.

He was born Sept. 20, 1893, in Stronghurst, Ill., the son of William and Sophia Carlson Johnson. He was married on Oct. 9, 1912 to Bertha Guthrie.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Dale of Ottumwa, Richard of Mt. Ayr; one daughter, Mrs. Arthur Page, Hillsboro; one brother, Fred, Ottumwa; one sister, Maude Bryson, Winfield; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Hillsboro Christian church. Rev. Chester Werft; Hillsboro cemetery.
