Jay E. Yarnell

Jay Edward Yarnell, 79, died Thursday, Sept. 24, at his home at 1008 1/2 Ave. H, Ft. Madison.

A native of the Douds-Leando community, Mr. Yarnell was born Nov. 25, 1890, the son of Frank and Etta Hoops Yarnell. He had been a resident of Ft. Madison since 1936.

Mr. Yarnell married Luella Barnes in Ottumwa on June 3, 1931.

He served in France in World War I, entering the Army at Keosauqua on May 27, 1918; he was discharged June 11, 1919.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Virginia Yarnell of Denver, Colo.; and two brothers, Clair Yarnell of Michigan and Wilbur Yarnell of Pittsburg.

Funeral service was held Saturday, Sept. 26 at 2:30 p.m. at Nieters' Chapel in Ft. Madison. Rev. Paul Williamson officiated. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.
