Mrs. Stanley Medaris

Elsie Mae Medaris, 56, of Farmington, died Sunday, June 14 at 6:15 p.m. in Van Buren County Memorial hospital, Keosauqua. She had been ill one week, seriously one day.

She was born June 30, 1913 at Burlington, Colo., the daughter of Fred and Roysten Ellsworth Mathies.

She married Stanley Medaris on Dec. 5, 1932 at Goodland, Kans. and he survives. They moved to Iowa in 1933 and lived near Bonaparte and Farmington since then.

Mrs. Medaris was a member of the Baptist church and was also a member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the United Methodist church. She was noble grand of the Farmington Rebekah lodge.

Surviving in addition to her husband is her mother of Burlington, Colo.; three daughters, Mrs. Jean Sampson of Lisbon, Mrs. Karene Adkinson of Lockridge, and Mrs. Irene Steele of Stockport; three sons, Dan of Bonaparte, Don of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Pat, who is in the Navy serving with the Seventh Fleet; three brothers, Harold Mathies and Leonard Mathies, both of Burlington, Colo., and Charles Mathies of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Hicks of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Mrs. Bessie Boyd of Burlington, Colo.; also 13 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father and three brothers.

The funeral service will be Thursday, June 18, at 2 p.m., in the Farmington United Methodist church. Robert Hambright will officiate. Burial will be in Greenglade cemetery.

The body is at Miller's Home for Funerals in Farmington.
