Mrs. Theodore Mehmert

Mrs. Theodore (Ted) Mehmert, 57, of West Point, died suddenly Saturday, June 20, at 11:55 a.m. in Sacred Heart hospital, Fort Madison.

The former May Denning, she was born March 25, 1913 at Pilot Grove, the daughter of the late Theodore and Gertrude Geers Denning.

She was a lifelong resident of the Pilot Grove and West Point communities. She married Theodore Mehmert on April 23, 1935 in St. James church at St. Paul. He survives.

She was a member of St. Mary's church at West Point and its Altar and Rosary Society.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, James of Fort Madison, Francis of Kansas City, Mo., Paul of Washington, D.C., who is a member of the U.S. Air Force; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Kay Crom and Mrs. Ray Battenfield, both of West Point; two brothers, Carl Denning of Houghton, James Denning of Augusta; and seven grandchildren.

The funeral service was held Tuesday, June 23, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic church, West Point with the Rev. Dennis Martin officiating. Burial was in Calvary cemetery, West Point. Link Funeral Home at West Point was in charge of arrangements. The recitation of the Rosary was held there at 3 p.m. on Monday by the Altar and Rosary Society and at 8 p.m. by the parish.
