John O. Black
John O. Black, 84, of Farmington, died Tuesday, March 10, at 11:15 p.m. in University Hospitals, Iowa City, after a lengthy illness.
The son of Loman and Clara black, he was born Nov. 28, 1885 in Selma.
In September of 1930 at Atlantic, Iowa he married Nora Berthold, who survives.
A resident of Farmington since 1950, he moved there from Atlantic. He was a railroad bridge building foreman for the Rock Island Railroad 51 years retiring 15 years ago.
Mr. Black was a 50 year Mason and had his membership at Douds lodge. He was a former member of the Consistory and Shrine.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
The funeral service was held Saturday, March 14, at 2 p.m. in Miller's Home for Funerals, Farmington, with the Rev. Eddie West officiating. Burial was in Farmington cemetery.
