James McWilliams

James McWilliams, 76, of rural route Revere, Mo., died Sunday Jan. 11, at 2:30 a.m. in his home southwest of Farmington.

He was born March 2, 1893 near Luray, Mo., the son of James and Mary Hemingway McWilliams.

On Dec. 22, 1918 in Scotland county, Mo., he married May Kerr, who survives.

Mr. McWilliams was a member of the Chambersburg United Methodist church. He was well known as a rockhound and collector of barb wire and exhibitor of hand made jewelry and polished gems. He was featured in numerous newspaper feature articles and in magazine stories. He was a former member of the Des Moines Valley Rock & Relics Club at Farmington and was a charter member of the Northeast Missouri Rock Club at Kahoka.

In addition to his widow, also surviving are three sons, Donald of West Plaines, Mo., Douglas of Kahoka, and Richard of Keokuk; and one daughter, Mrs. J.E. (Marilyn) Otte of Kahoka, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Stella Wells of Lucerne, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, one half-sister, and two half-brothers.

The funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. in the Karle-Shaffer Funeral Home at Kahoka, Mo. with the Rev. Carl Martin officiating. Burial was in the Chambersburg, Mo. cemetery.
