Mrs. Lila Hill

Mrs. Lila Hill, 82, of Bonaparte, died Monday, Jan. 19, at 3:15 p.m. in Van Buren County Memorial hospital, Keosauqua, after a lengthy illness.

She was born May 29, 1887 at Bentonsport the daughter of Jesse and Cynthia Scott Stevens.

On Dec. 24, 1908 at Bonaparte, she married Harry W. Hill. He died on April 30, 1954.

She lived in Bonaparte since 1927 moving to town from a farm near Bentonsport.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Thelma Corns of Fort Madison, Mrs. Ada Miller of Wayland, Mrs. Grace Van Patten of Redwood Valley, Calif., Mrs. Ethel Thoman of Montrose and Mrs. Faye Neeley of Bonaparte; and one son, Roy Hill of Quincy, Ill;
two sisters, Mrs. Grace Patterson of Keokuk, Mrs. Gertrude Storms of Des Moines; two brothers, Ted Stevens of Cody, Wyo. and Ernest Stevens of Tacoma, Wash.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, two sisters, one brother and five grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. in the Presbyterian church at Bonaparte, with the Rev. Edward Maus officiating. Burial will be in the Bonaparte cemetery.

The body was removed from Miller's Home for Funerals in Farmington on Wednesday morning and taken to the Carl Wilson Reposing Home in Bonaparte to lie in state until time of service.
