Funeral services for Rev. Lloyd Nelson, 59, of Russell were held Monday afternoon, Sept. 15 at the Pedrick Funeral Home at Douds. Burial was at Kilbourne.

The Rev. Nelson died Friday morning, Sept. 12 following surgery at Iowa Methodist Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. He was a farmer for 20 years in the Douds area before entering the Methodist ministry. He had pastorages at West Grove and Eddyville before going to Russell two years ago.

He was born by his widow; one son, John L. Nelson Jr., Rt. 2, Fairfield; and two daughters, Dolores Cole of Fort Madison and Connie, at home; nine grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Lois Kuaffman of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three infant daughters.
