Father George Beeson of Farmington Passes Away.
Mt. Ayr Journal: George Beeson, of Farmington, died Saturday, May 23, 1903, aged 94 years 9 months and 8 days. He was born at Martinsburg W. Va., August 15, 1808, and came to Iowa about 1852. At the time of his death he was probably the oldest Free Mason in the state, having been a member for over 52 years. He was initiated in Pickaway Lodge No. 23 at Circleville, Ohio, in July 1850, and four years later tranferred his membership to Mt. Moriah Lodge No. 27, at Farmington, Iowa. In 1901 he was made a Shriner, having passed through the chapter, council and commandery, and was a true and faithful mason. He was also a zealous Christian member of the Methodist church. We have known him since 1856 and he was a grand and noble man, beloved by all who knew him.
