Russell Todd Heald

Russell Todd Heald, 72-year-old retired farmer and for 33 years operator of the hardware store at Mt. Sterling, died Saturday, May 31 in Van Buren Memorial County hospital at Keosauqua. Death terminated a long illness.

Mr. Heald was born in Missouri, just across the Iowa state line, in Scotland county, on March 18, 1897, the son of Charles and Julia Todd Heald. He was married to Grace Carnahan of Cantril on Sept. 8, 1921.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Luvene Heald of Keosauqua and Glenn Heald of Dubuque; two daughters, Mrs. Miller Blair of Mt. Sterling and Mrs. Gordon Warrington of Burlington; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Jack Dowling of Duneden, Fla. and Mrs. Maude McElroy of Ottumwa.

Services were held Monday, June 2 at the Mt. Sterling United Methodist church, with burial in Harness cemetery.
