Fred Hackard

Fred W. Hackard, 68, of Bonaparte died Thursday morning, May 8 at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

The son of William and Maggie Shuey Hackard, he was born Feb. 17, 1901, near Keosauqua. He married Fay Heminger, Sept. 20, 1922. They had farmed in the Bonaparte area about 25 years.

Surviving are his widow and five children: Mrs. Helen Morris, Mrs. Freda Cox, Mrs. Elaine Cole, all of Keosauqua. Mrs. Vivian Martin and Frank Hackard of Bonaparte; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Barker of Keosauqua and Mrs. Bertha Lee of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Clyde Hackard of Chicago, Ill. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.

Four children preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 10 at 2 p.m. at the Catcott Funeral Home in Keosauqua. Interment was in Harness Cemetery at Mount Sterling.
