Roy Emit Kisling

Roy Emit Kisling, son of John and Mary Kisling was born Nov. 29, 1895, in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital. He had suffered a stroke on April 19, and had been a patient at the hospital since that time.

On June 23, 1923, Mr. Kisling was united in marriage to Miss Evelyn Brown at Keosauqua. He has been a lifelong Van Buren County resident and farming has been his occupation.

The Kislings were the parents of 12 children, 11 of whom survive, namely, 5 sons, Paul, Dwight and Robert of Keosauqua, Charlie of Stockport and Dean at home; 6 daughters, Mrs. Loren Manley of Libertyville, Mrs. Gregory Bowman of Mt. Sterling, Mrs. Don Jewell of Oak Forest, Illinois, Mrs. Francis Manley of Monmouth, Ill., Mrs. John Whitfield of Perry, Fla., and Carol at home. His wife and 1 sister, Mrs. Ethel Murphy of Keosauqua also survive, as do 26 grandchildren. One son, Carl Jay preceded him in death in 1954.
