Frank R. Winters

Frank R. Winters, 83, died at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua Saturday, April 19 at 11:45 a.m.

Born Aug. 10, 1885, near Selma, he was the son of Ben and Elmira Snelling Winters. On Dec. 18, 1911, he married Carrie Shipley. She died Oct. 25, 1956.

The couple spent most of their lives in and near Cantril. They lived Minnesota 10 years. Mr. Winters was a long-time farmer and had served as janitor for the Cantril school and the State Savings Bank.

Survivors include three step-children, Russell Shipley of Parkers Prairie, Minn., Wilbur Shipley of Bremerton, Wash., and Thelma Robison of Cantril; two sisters, Sadie Cox of Cedar Rapids and Maude Vickers of Round Lake, Ill.; two brothers, Dave of Bonaparte and Ben of Jefferson, S.D.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 22 at the Cantril Methodist Church with the Rev. Herbert Phillips officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
