Mrs. Clarence Jones

Mrs. Nellie M. Jones, 82, wife of Clarence Jones, died at Davis Co. Hospital in Bloomfield at 8:20 p.m. Friday, April 4, following a lengthy illness. She had been a resident of Troy the past 20 years.

The daughter of Clifton and Hattie Drew Roush, she was born in Keosauqua, June 25, 1886. She had lived in Davis County the past 57 years and was affiliated with the Methodist Church.

She was first married to James Roy Carruthers, on Nov. 14, 1903. He died May 2, 1955. Her marriage to Jess Johnson took place in 1957. He died in 1959. She married Clarence Jones on April 27, 1961. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Chloe Cassatt of Milton and Helen Cassatt of Bloomfield; two sons, Otto Carruthers of Franklin, Mass.; one brother, Bates of Boise, Idaho; one sister, Vera Allen of Berryville, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

The funeral was Monday at 2 p.m. at Troy United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. John Davis. Interment was in Troy Cemetery.
