Mrs. Josephine Galpin

Mrs. Josephine Faye Galpin, daughter of Guy and Myrtle Giles McLeland, was born July 12, 1897 near Cantril, Iowa and died March 20, 1969 at the Ottumwa Hospital in Ottumwa, Iowa.

On Dec. 2, 1916 she was united in marriage to Neil Drake. To this union three sons and three daughters were born. He died Oct. 1, 1941.

On Sept. 3, 1960 she was united in marriage to Everett Galpin. They resided in Centerville, Iowa at the time of her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, who died in infancy, one brother, George McLeland and a sister, Bessie Creath.

Survivors include, her husband, Everett, three sons, Robert of Greeley, Colo., Bill Ray of Fairfield, and Wayne, and one daughter, Elloise Newcomb, both of California; a step-son, Harold E. Galpin of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

She had been a long time resident of Van Buren County, a member of the Cantril United Methodist Church and a person whose strong faith in Christ gives comfort to her family even now.

Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church at Cantril, Saturday afternoon with the Rev. Herbert E. Phillips, officiating. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery. Services were in charge of Catcott Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
