Miss Mary McDowell

Miss Mary McDowell, 86, died about 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 in the Holden Nursing Home in Keosauqua, she had been in failing health a number of years.

The last of a family of eight, she was the daughter of Crawford and Eleanor Gleed McDowell, born Dec. 4, 1882, at Delavan, Ill. In 1911 she moved with her sister, the late Mrs. Carried Regur and family to a farm near Keosauqua and has lived near or in Keosauqua since that time.

A member of the Christian Church she worked for many years as a teacher and superintendent in the Junior Department of the Sunday School and was active in the Missionary Society of the church. She was a member of Van Buren Chapter of Daughters of the Revolution and a 50-year member of Lynds Chapter Oder of Eastern Star.

Survivors area a niece, Mrs. Alma Pawson of Long Beach, Calif., and two nephews, Hal C. Regur of Frederickson, Mo. and George Regur of Keosauqua.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at the Keosauqua Christian Church with Howard McPeak, pastor, officiating. Burial was Wednesday at Delavan, Illinois.
