Mrs. Anna Johnson
Mrs. Anna Johnson, 102, one of the oldest residents of Des Moines, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Methodist hospital after a brief.
The daughter of Darius and Nilla Eklund, she was born in Hamman, Sweden, June 8, 1866.
She came to the United States at age 18 and spent most of her life in Bonaparte before going to Des Moines to live with her daughter.
She was married in Ottumwa in 1886 to John L. Johnson. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Emma Christy of Bonaparte and Nellie Johnson, Des Moines; two sons, Andree A. Johnson of St. Augustine, Fla., and Oscar A. Johnson, Flint, Mich.; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1936; a daughter, Mrs. Clara Proper; three sons, Harold L., Carl S. and Ludvig F.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Funeral services were held at Dunn's Funeral Home, in Des Moines, with Rev. Leland Watts officiating. Graveside services will be at the Bonaparte Cemetery at a later date.
