William H. Barnett

Funeral services for William H. Barnett, 80, of Trenton, Mo., who died at his home Feb. 4 at 12:15 was held Friday, Feb. 7th at 1:30 P.M. in Trenton at the Assembly of God Church of which he was a member. Burial was in Trenton Cemetery.

Mr. Barnett was born Sept. 11, 1888 in Van Buren County, Iowa, the son of Frank and Ella Huffman Barnett. He attended school in Keosauqua and was married in Keosauqua, Dec. 14, 1911 to Anna Norris who survives.

Other survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Woods, Ogden, Ill., Mrs. Helen Kent, Ceres, Calif., Naomia Scott and Ethel Booth, of Trenton; six sons, Lester and Glen of Trenton, Dale of Milan, Ill., Ralph of Bettendorf, Paul of Davenport and Elmer, an army officer in Viet Nam, who arrived home the morning of Feb. 7th.

Also surviving are two brothers, Ray and Bud Barnett of Hillsboro and four sisters, Mrs. Phyllis Marshall and Mrs. Chloe Warrington of Hillsboro, Mrs. Vera Heisel of Stockport and Mrs. Eva Marshall of Packwood. There are 31 grandchildren including a granddaughter, Mrs. Dixie Mikesell of Trenton, who was raised in the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Barnett, and 29 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Barnett was an employee of the Rock Island Railroad for nearly 30 years. He was also a Grundy County employee for bridges and general carpernter work. He had recently been employed at Barnes Greenhouse in Trenton.

Relatives from Hillsboro attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Barnett and Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Wallerick.
