BRYAN JOHNSTON

Bryan Johnston, 71, of Des Moines passed away on Dec. 26 at Veteran's Hospital in Des Moines, where he had been a patient for some time.

Born near Douds, Iowa, Feb. 11, 1897, the son of William and Minnie Wiley Johnston, he attended school in Van Buren County, was graduated from Keosauqua School and attended the State University of Iowa in Iowa City.

He was a World War I Veteran, having served in the Navy as a cook, a vocation he followed after leaving the service.

He was a resident of Soldiers Home in Marshalltown for a few years, but was living in Des Moines at the time of his last illness.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Madge Buckles of Escondido, Calif. and three brothers, Tom of Pasadena, Calif., Forrest of Grundy Center and Pitt of Birmingham. On brother and one sister are deceased.
