ABRAHAM WELLS

Abraham A. Wells, 85, retired Packwood farmer died last week at the Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield. He had been in failing health for eight years and seriously ill one day.

Born May 28, 1881, at East Stone Gap, Va., to Monroe and Druzilla Harris Wells, he was reared and educated in Virginia, and married there Aug. 15, 1903, to Ava Gillenwater. She died Dec. 24, 1958.

He came to Iowa 56 years ago and had lived in the Stockport vicinity 23 years and in the Packwood vicinity 33 years.

He was a member of the Christian Church. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

He is survived by two sons, Preston Wells of Geneseo, Ill., and Frank Wells of Packwood; two daughters, Mrs. Darle Clark of Packwood and Mrs. Glenn Harrington of Phoenix, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Wells of Gervais, Ore., Esmond Wells of Stockport and Jerry Wells of Libertyville; two sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Miner of Stockport and Mary of Big Stone Gap, Va.

Services were held Saturday, July 16 at 11 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home, in charge of the Rev. William Kanne of Packwood. Burial in Packwood Cemetery.
