Crash Claims Second Victim

Injured in a two-car crash just north of Brighton Friday evening, June 3, Mrs. Ruby Frances Giberson, 67, of Salina died Sunday, June 5 at 9:10 a.m. at Washington County Hospital.

She was driving her auto from a farm driveway when it was struck by an oncoming car. A passenger in her car, Ralph Roberts, 83, of rural Fairfield, was killed instantly.

Born Feb. 4, 1899, in Jefferson County, she was the daughter of William and Florence Penn Martin. She was a lifetime resident of Jefferson and Van Buren counties.

On April 9, 1921, she married Harrison W. Giberson, who died Oct. 6, 1952.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Diane Derby of Drakesville; a foster son, James Wireman of Rock Island, Ill.; a foster daughter, Mrs. Florence Sliex of Yakima, Wash.; three grandchildren, three brothers, Earl Martin of Fairfield, Joe Marin of Mount Pleasant, and John Martin of Green Rock, Ill; and a sister, Mrs. Lucile Haynes of Bonaparte.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

The service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Weston Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Alvin E. Nelson of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Wright Cemetery, southeast of Fairfield.
