JOE M. BARKER

Joe M. Barker, son of James and Jane Agnew Barker was born July 2o, 1881, near Mt. Zion and passed away suddenly at home May 8, 1966, 6:30 P.M., Sunday.

He was a retired farmer and formerly an assessor and for 30 years he served on the tax appraisal board. Early in life he joined the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church, in 1919 he became a member of the Keosauqua Methodist Church. He was united in marriage with Iva B. Keck, daughter of J.H. and Jennie Teal Keck on February 4, 1903 and to this union two children were born.

He is survived by his wife, three granddaughters: Ruth Ann Wright, Keosauqua; June Wiley, Green City, Mo.; and Janet Smith, Medill, Mo. There are nine great grandchildren: Kent, Kirk, and Brenda Wright; Tatha and C.J. Wiley; Connie, Randy, Alan, and Roger Smith.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Davis, a son, Joe in Pearl Harbor; and a great granddaughter, Wendee Wiley; three brothers and three sisters.

Services were held May 11 at 2 p.m. in the Keosauqua Methodist Church. Burial was in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Keosauqua.
