ARTHUR F. BEGGS

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Feb. 8, 1966, for Arthur F. Beggs at the Zion United Church of Christ, with Rev. Robert Jacobs officiating. The Bake funeral home had charge of the arrangements, and interment was in the Hubbard cemetery.

Mr. Beggs died of a heart attack on Saturday, Feb. 5, at his home. Arthur Francis Beggs was born Nov. 25, 1888, five miles northwest of Keosauqua, Iowa, to James and Mary Frances Stevenson Beggs. He was educated in the schools of Van Buren county. On Nov. 25, 1913 he was united in marriage with Elsie M. Jackson. She passed away May 15, 1920. Then on Dec. 22, 1928 he was united in marriage with Fay Catherine Davis of College Springs, Iowa, where they resided for two years. In 1930 they moved northwest of Keosauqua, Iowa. He was engaged in farming here until 1938, when they moved to Union, Iowa. In 1943 the family moved to Hubbard, and he was employed by the Ankeny Ordinance Plant at Ankeny for some years. Later he was employed by the Hubbard Co-op and more recently by the Hubbard Recreation Club. In this community he and his wife became members of the Zion United Church of Christ, and he was an active participant in its work and worship. Death came to Arthur suddenly on the morning of Feb. 5, 1966, at his home in Hubbard. He had reached the age of 77 years, 2 months and 10 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, four half brothers, and two half sisters. Remaining to mourn his passing are his wife, Fay, two daughters, Verla (Mrs. Richard Waugh) of Hampton, Iowa and Mary (Mrs. John Pettit) of Pomona, Calif., one brother, Otto D. Beggs of Burlington, Iowa. Ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, several neices and nephews, and a host of friends and neighbors.
