William A. Sell

William August Sell, 67, of Marshalltown, a former resident of Milton and Ottumwa, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City. He had been in failing health for six years.

"Bill", as he was affectionately known to his many friends, was born at Donnellson, Iowa, Aug. 2, 1898, the second son of August and Elizabeth Caroline Sell. He had lived in Ottumwa for 25 years where he was employed by the Lowenberg Bakery and the Ottumwa Iron Works, before moving to Marshalltown about 10 years ago. He was a veteran of World War I, had always been active in American Legion affairs and was a Past Adjutant of the Ottumwa American Legion Post.

He is survived by his widow, Dorothy (Erzinger) Sell of Ottumwa; two brothers, John (Jack) I. Sell of Milton and Victor H. Sell of Marshalltown.

Services were held Friday, Feb. 25, 1966 at 3 p.m. at the Milton Christian Church in charge of the Rev. Harold Bray. Interment was in Milton Sunnyside Cemetery. Military services at the graveside by Russell-Strait Post No. 483, American Legion. Arrangements by the Wellborn Funeral Home, Milton.
