George Crown

George A. Crown of Farmington died Sunday, Feb. 27, at 9:30 p.m. in the Veterans' Administration Hospital at Iowa City after a lengthy illness.

He was born Jan. 31, 1889 at Farmington, the son of Henry and Jennie Cleave Crown. He spent most of his life in Farmington except for 20 years in Fort Madison.

He was a Farmington businessman. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the American Legion.

He was married on May 18, 1919, at Burlington, to Mae Starr, who survives.

Surviving besides his widow, are two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Mae Joann) Miller of Farmington and Mrs. Rex (Mary Louise) Hines of Davenport; 1 brother, Keith Crown of Gary, Ind.; and one sister, Mrs. G.W. Storm of Gary, Ind.; and 8 grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents, two brothers and two grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Baptist church at Farmington with the Rev. Ronald Hutchings officiating. Burial will be in Greenglade cemetery.
