OBITUARIES

H.W. BENJAMIN

Herbert W. Benjamin, 78, of near Farmington, died Saturday, Jan. 29, about no one, following a two-week illness. He had been in Pensacola since Thanksgiving.

He was born Aug. 2, 1887, in Lee County, the son of Jacob and Anna Lang Benjamin. He married Virgel May Huff on Feb. 4, 1913, at Houghton. He farmed in the Primrose area and lived all his life in Lee County.

He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church at Farmington.

Survivors include two sons, Forrest Benjamin of Donnellson and John Benjamin of Lancaster, Pa.; a daughter, Lt. Cmdr. Lucy Benjamin of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Henry Benjamin of Pontoosuc, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Dinwiddie and Mrs. Rose Cooper of Fort Madison; and 10 grandchildren. His wife died Sept. 18, 1964. One son, a brother and a sister also preceded him in death.

The funeral was held Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Farmington with the Rev. Anthony Geerts officiating. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery at Houghton.
