MAY DOUD

DOUDS - May Doud, 75, retired teacher and widow of the late State Sen. Alden L. Doud, died the morning of May 10 at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

The daughter of Chris and Arilla Jones Bralliar, she was born March 5, 1903, near Richland. She graduated from Richland High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and Iowa State University at Ames.

She taught in Keokuk County, Nevada and Monmouth, Iowa, and for many years in Douds School. She retired in 1970.

On June 29, 1930, she married Alden Doud at her parents' home in Richland. He died in 1961. He was a member of the founding family of Douds.

Survivors: a son, Alden L. of Washington, D.C., and a brother, Brice Bralliar of Williams, Ariz.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Twin City Chapter of OES and Douds Book Club and was treasurer of Twin City Manor Inc. She was a member of the Iowa and national education associations and of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, the Rev. L.C. Brown and Helen Brown officiating. Burial: Mount Moriah Cemetery north of Douds. Memorials: to her church or American Cancer Society.
