Woman found dead
Ottumwa police said a 61-year-old woman found early today probably died of exposure.
A refuse hauler found the body of Viola May Hoover of 701 E. Second at 4:14 a.m. today. She was lying on the parking near the edge of Second Street to Ottumwa High School.
Authorities said she apparently fell during the night as she was walking home.
She was born Nov. 1, 1915, in Douds to Wilbur and Cleo Louson Green.
She is survived by one son, Dickie Puffinbarger of Fairfield; one daughter, Mrs. Karen Douglas of Ottumwa; two brothers, Carlus Green of Bloomfield and Richard Green of Richland; and six grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are tentatively set for Saturday at 1:30 at the Shrine of Memories Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
