HUGH MURPHY
BONAPARTE - Hugh Murphy, 71, of Bonaparte, died Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
He was born April 19, 1905, at Cuba, Ill., to Albert E. and Gertrude Ackerson Murphy. On Feb. 4, 1927, he married Esther Gonterman at Bonaparte.
He spent most of his life in Bonaparte, where he was the branch manager of the Fairfield Glove Factory for many years before retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Bonaparte.
Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Everett Bacon of Jefferson City, Mo., and Mrs. Charles Brinkman of Danville; three sisters, Mrs. Fern Brombaugh of Enid, Okla., Mrs. Clarice Fritsinger of Lancaster, Calif., and Mrs. Margaret Millen of Bonaparte; and six grandchildren.
The service will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Bonaparte Baptist Church, with Bob Dodds and Pastor Ian Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in the Bonaparte Cemetery.
The body is at the Carl Wilson Home in Bonaparte, where the family will receive friends tonight from 7:30 to 8:30. Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home of Farmington is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established payable to his church, and contributions may be left at the Wilson home or the funeral home.
