FRED D. FELLOWS

DOUDS - Fred D. Fellows, 85, of Ottumwa, formerly of Douds, died Saturday at 11:35 a.m. at Sunnyslope Care Center in Ottumwa, following a two-month illness.

The son of Evan and Emma Duffield Fellows, he was born Nov. 19, 1890, on a farm between Douds and Keosauqua, where he lived until 1948. He was employed by the Navy at Indian Head, Md., then lived in Orlando, Fla., before moving to Ottumwa five years ago. For the past two years, he had lived at 421 N. Sherican.

In 1912, he married Elizabeth Hope Stewart. She died in 1948.

Surviving are one daughter, Josephine Miller of Ottumwa; two sons, Paul of Springield, Va., and Robert of Chicago; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Starlight Lodge 350 of Knights of Pythias and Douds Temple 104 of Pythian Sisters.

The service was held today at 2 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Burial was in the Leando Cemetery.
