PICKARD SERVICE

BONAPARTE - The funeral for Roy E. Pickard, 86, of Bonaparte, who died Tuesday, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Bonaparte Baptist Church. The Rev. Kenneth Harden will officiate, and burial with Masonic rites will be in Sharon Cemetery north of Farmington.

The casket will be taken to the church at 9 a.m. Thursday from Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Mr. Pickard was born Dec. 18, 1889, near Salem to Charles and Margaret Hill Pickard.

A Van Buren County resident most of his life, he farmed in the Bonaparte community and was county sheriff 15 years. He also was an Iowa Highway patrolman for several years and served as a county supervisor.

He was a member of the Baptist Church and Bonaparte Masonic Lodge 73.

He married Opal Dawson, who died in 1956. H later married Lillian Mahler. She survives as do one stepson, Roger Mahler of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven stepgrandchildren; and one brother, Larry of Farmington.
