STRAIT FUNERAL

MILTON - The funeral for Viola May Strait, 89, who died Friday at the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua, will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Milton. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Herbert De Mello and the Rev. Gerald Caughron.

She was born Nov. 11, 1886, at Louistown, Mo., the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Crandall Pruett.

She was married to Sam Strait, April 27, 1909, and he died in 1955.

She is survived by two sons, William C. of Milton and Maurice L. of Golden, Colo.; one daughter, Marietta Ssc Schafer of Milton; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Matthew, wo was killed in the service and the Milton Legion Post is named for him.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Women's Club and a member of the Legion Auxiliary.

Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery at Milton.

The Wellborn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established to provide an organ for the Milton United Methodist Church.
