Harvey Newton Murphy 1874 - ?

Harvey Newton Murphy, an employee of the Butler Manufacturing Company for the past six years, died unexpectedly of a heart attack Sunday noon at 12:45 0'clock in the city bus depot in Galesburg, Ill. Mr. Murphy was rushed to St. Mary's Hospital in a city ambulance, but his death is believed to have occured prior to that trip.

Mr. Murphy was born December 26, 1874 at Keosauqua, Iowa and had been a resident of Galesburg for 20 years. Mr. Murphy parents were William H. and Margaret Davis Murphy. He was married to Mattie May Stewart March 27, 1904 at Vernon, Iowa. He was a member of the First Methodist church and of the Eagles.

Those of his immediate family include his wife, who was with him at the time of his death; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn (Paul) Mason and Mrs. Gladys (Claude) McConchie both of Galesburg; a brother Perry Murphy of Tempe, Ariz.; and a niece, Bernice Burns of Rockford, who was reared in the Murphy home as their own child.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Kimber and West Mortuary. Burial was in the Oaklawn Memorial Cemetery. Obituary Galesburg, IL newspaper, date unknown.
