WILLIAM SPARKS

KEOSAUQUA - William T. Sparks, 95, died today at 6:40 a.m. at Van Buren County Hospital, where he was admitted Tuesday night.

He was born Aug. 27, 1880, in Missouri, south of Mount Sterling, Iowa, to Fleming and Amanda Sheets Sparks.

He was married more than 50 years to Iva Pettit, who did in 1955. He later married Bertha Rambo, who also preceded him to death. In 1967, he married Mabel Cartnal. She died in 1975.

Surviving are one son, Sidney of Keosauqua; two granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren. He was the father-in-law of Mrs. Opal Sparks of Keosauqua.

He farmed near Mount Sterling until retiring to Keosauqua in 1945. He had served on the Mount Sterling School Board, was active in Farm Bureau, and for a number of years was on the Van Buren County Appraisal Board.

He was active in the former Mount Sterling Christian Church and in the Keosauqua Christian Church, having held a number of offices in both.

The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Keosauqua Christian Church, with the Rev. Bill Bensheimer and the Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Blackledge Cemetery east of Mount Sterling.

The body is at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua. A memorial has been established payable to the Keosauqua church.
