KEOSAUQUA - Mrs. Marguerite Austin, 76, of rural Keosauqua died Thursday at 5:01 p.m. in Van Buren County Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

The daughter of Israel and Sarah Plowman Strait, she was born Sept. 13, 1899, near Keosauqua, and lived her life in the same neighborhood. She graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1919.

On Sept. 13, 1941, she married Reuben Austin. He survives.

Also surviving are three brothers, Clarence, Bruce and Wilbur Strait, all of Keosauqua; and two sisters, Mrs. Lena Crane of Keosauqua and Mrs. Milo DeLong of West Chester.

She was a member of the Keosauqua United Methodist Church, where the funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m., with the Rev. John Cornish officiating. Burial will be in Pittsburg Cemetery.

The body is at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

A memorial has been established payable to the Van Buren County Hospital.
