Laurece M. Ward

BONAPARTE - Mrs. Laurece Mary Ward, 58, of Bonaparte died Thursday at 6:55 a.m. at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua after a lengthy illness.

She was born Feb. 13, 1917, at Pocahontas to Sam and Mayne McCarty Nelson. She spent her childhood in Farmington and married Alva Ward Jan. 18, 1936, at Fort Madison. They formerly owned Ward Café in Bonaparte.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Farmington and Magnolia Chapter 276, Eastern Star.

Surviving are her widower; three sons, Donald and Michael, both of Bonaparte, and James of Ukiah, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Larry Eden of Romeoville, Ill.; her mother, Mayme Martin of Farmington; one brother, Darnielle Martin of Bonaparte; and 10 grandchildren.

The service will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Bonaparte Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Scott Holmes officiating. Burial will be in Thompson Cemetery.

The body will be at the Carl Wilson reposing home in Bonaparte. A memorial has been established payable to the cancer society and contributions may be left at Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington.
