CARL JULIUS WENKE

Carl Julius Wenke, 57, Farmington, died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, at his home. He was stricken by an apparent heart attack while unloading hay.

He was born December 13, 1917, near Wever, the son of Herman and Anna Schroeder Wenke. He married Shirley Graber, September 9, 1950, at Fort Madison. He worked for R.L. Patton Const., Co., Keokuk, and was a member of Laborers Local 525.

Surviving: The wife; a son, Neil, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Larry (Gail) Schmitz, Farmington, Dixie Wenke, at home, and Deanna Wenke, a foreign exchange student in Austria; a brother, George, Wever, and one grandchild.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 9, at 2 p.m. at the Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington, Rev. Gerald Hoenig officiating. Burial was in Gethsemone Cemetery, Fort Madison. Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington, was in charge of arrangements.
