ED KRUSE

Ed Kruse, 83, rural Salem, died at 5 a.m. Friday, May 9, at his home. He had been in failing health for some time.

He was born March 30, 1892, in Houghton, and was a lifelong resident of the St. Paul and Houghton area. He was a retire farmer.

On January 20, 1914, he married Ida Holtkamp at St. John's Church in Houghton. She preceded him in death March 13, 1975.

He was a member of St. James Church of St. Paul and the Holy Name Society of that church.

He is survived by four sons, Lawrenc, Wilfred, and Albert, all of Salem and Sylvester of Hillsboro; seven daughters, Misses Gertrude and Edna Kruse, both of Salem, Mrs. Casper (Helen) Schinstock, Mrs. Wilfred (Cecelia) Klesner, and Mrs. Omer (Agnes) Stuekerjurgen, all of Salem, Mrs. Ernest (Clotilda) Steffensmeier, Donnellson, and Mrs. Joe (Marcella) Moore of Fort Madison; a brother, Steve Kruse of Houghton; 68 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, three brothers, three sisters and four grandchildren. His parents were Henry and Catherine Polhans Kruse.

Funeral services were at noon Monday, May 12, at St. James Church in St. Paul with the Rev. Maynard Brotherson officiating. The body was taken to the Link Funeral Home.
