Mrs. Lyda I. Cornell, 70, was stricken at her home at 223 Avenue G Wednesday, February 19, and was dead on arrival at Sacred Heart hospital.
She was the daughter of John W. and Roxie R. Hunter Keeler, and was born June 12, 1904, at Mt. Sterling. She married the late William T. Cornell, June 12, 1924, at Bonaparte.
Mrs. Cornell was a member of First Baptist church and was vice president of Fort Madison Senior Citizens. She was a retired employe of W.A. Sheaffer Pen Co.
Surviving: Three sons and four daughters: Charles T. Cornell, Dover, Delaware; Kenneth D. and Larry J. Cornell and Darlene Davis, all of Fort Madison; Maxine Biegler, West Point; Marjorie Brookhart, Fairfield; and Cathy Klein, Vinton; 18 grandchildren; and brother and sister, J. Wayne Keeler and Leola Steinmeyer, both of Fort Madison.
Funeral at the First Baptist church at 1:30 Saturday; Rev. Gordon C. McMillan; Bonaparte cemetery. King-Lynk funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
