Ottumwa Courier, Friday, Jan. 31, 1975

Mrs. Elsie Sloan, 70, died Wednesday at 11 p.m. at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

She was born March 12, 1904, near Libertyville to William and Debra Allbright Bishop. She spent all of her married life four miles south of Eldon, was a member of the Bethlehem Christian Church and its Ladies Aid, and taught Sunday school.

She married David A. Sloan Jan. 14, 1925. He died in 1957.

Surviving are one daughter, Miss Margaret Sloan of Rochester; two nephews, Harold and Clarence Sloan, who were reared in the family home; and one sister, Mrs. Erma Hertel of Burlington. She was preceded in death by an infant son, a half brother and several half sisters.

The service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Bethlehem Christian Church, with the Rev. LeRoy Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

A memorial will be established by the family. The body is at Campbell Funeral Home in Eldon.
