Ulysses Grant Wollam, seventh child of Edward and Elizabeth Wollam, was born four miles northeast of Mt. Sterling on April 26, 1864, where he lived and grew to manhood. He passed from this life August 20, 1924, age 60 years, 3 months and 24 days.
On December 24, 1885, he was married to Rosa Wolf, who preceded him in death, July 20, 1917. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Bertha Cles who with her son Earl survive him. He is also servived by three sisters and three brothers as follows: Mrs. Arminta Parsons, Mrs. Rebecca Parsons and Mrs. Ellen Madden, all of Mt. Sterling, and Clark, of Stockville, Neb., Joseph of Reno, Nevada and Frank of Mt. Sterling, Iowa.
He united with the Church of Christ at Keosauqua, Iowa, in 1891, and remained faithful to the church of his choice until he was called by death. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a real neighbor and friend to all. Through all his suffering he was kind and patient always, appreciating every thing that was done for his comfort.
He held membership in the Odd Fellows and Masonic Lodges.
We desire to extend our heartfelt thanks to the friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us during the sickness and at the death of our loving father and grandfather, also for the beautiful flowers.
Mrs. Bertha Cles and
Earl Cles
