Rebecca Ellen Fitzerald was born May 1, 1831, and passed away October 5, 1910. She was born in Ohio and when quite young moved with her parents to Michigan, and in 1837 came to this county and lived in or near Keosauqua for a number of years, and then in Harrisburg township until she was married to Thomas B. McIntosh, June 13, 1852, who departed this life 13 years ago.

To them were born eight children, all of whom are living; James M., Addison, Mrs. Curtis Anson, of Bakersfield, Cal.; George S. of San Miguel, Cal.; Mrs. P.D. Newman, Mountain View, Cal.; John W. and Mrs. George Matheson of Keosauqua; Mrs. George V. Barker of Mt. Zion. Besides her children she leaves three brothers:
S.M. Fitzgerald of Nye, Idaho; John W. of Bonaparte; A.H. Fitzgerald of Mountain View, Cal.; also two sisters, Mrs. Louisa A. Harden of San Miguel, Cal., and Mrs. Susan Roseberry of Nye, Idaho.

Coming to this county in an early day school privileges were very limited and no one worked harder to make the most of opportunities offered. She accepted Christ when young and lived by faith through all her years. Her thoughts were always for those around her and not self. Many and beautiful were the flowers brought by friends as a tribute of love. The funeral was at Center Chapel onOctober 7, at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. J.H. Hamilton.

I am related and this Obit. is in an old family scrapbook.
