ERNEST CLYDE POWELL

Ernest Clyde Powell was born Aug. 23, 1881 at Cantril, to Warren and Mary Casady Powell and passed away Oct. 9, 1973.

On Oct. 25, 1905, he married Effie Kirkhart, who died in 1961. He was a member of the Christian Church for more than 50 years.

Surviving are three sons, Paul of Indianola, Wayne of Newton and Vance of Pasada, Md.; three daughters, Mrs. Geneva Jones of Temple, Tex.; Mrs. Kathryn Little of Waco, Tex., and Mrs. Mary Brumback of Memphis, Mo.; nine grandchildren five great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. J.J. Leaverton of Lubbock, Texas; Mrs. James Chisman of Chandler, Ariz., and Mrs. Bates Cochran of Pomona, Calif.; and one brother, Bennie Powell of Milton.

Services were held Friday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Cantril Christian Church, with the Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the church. Wellborn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
